Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary in San Diego, CA is a historic and trusted funeral home and cemetery dedicated to serving families with compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care. Our administrative team is central to ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and seamless coordination across funeral, cemetery, and office operations.
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Clerical & Admin Specialist who can balance structured administrative work with warm, empathetic service to families. This role supports both front-office and back-office functions.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with numbers and documentation, and brings a calm, professional presence when interacting with grieving families and internal departments.
Responsibilities:
Answer incoming phone calls with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication; route callers to the appropriate department or staff member.
Greet visiting guests and guide them to the correct associate for assistance.
Receive payments, issue receipts, and follow all internal cash-handling procedures with accuracy.
Complete routine office tasks including scanning, filing, data entry, mail distribution, and document organization.
Provide general information about the location, including departments, office functions, and staff contacts.
Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail, particularly in numerical accuracy and data entry.
Create, edit, and maintain documents using Microsoft Office applications.
Schedule appointments and manage inquiries while ensuring timely follow-up.
Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, logging incoming checks, and organizing documents.
Maintain office supply inventory and order office and breakroom supplies as needed.
Assist with special projects and administrative initiatives as assigned.
Compensation: $20-$22/hr.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2+ years of administrative support or receptionist experience in a fast-paced environment.
Strong professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Excellent organizational habits with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Demonstrated ability to learn new software systems and adapt to new processes.
High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
Valid driver’s license.
Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred, but not required.
