Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Superintendent to lead our grounds and facilities operations with excellence, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to Malama Aina, the Hawaiian principle of caring for and honoring the land. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who understands that to care for sacred ground is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of cemetery grounds, facilities, and maintenance teams.
- Ensure the highest standards of beauty, cleanliness, and reverence throughout the property.
- Lead and manage teams involved in landscaping, interment preparation, facilities maintenance, and memorial installations.
- Collaborate with funeral directors, family service advisors, and guest services to ensure seamless coordination of services.
- Implement environmentally responsible practices in alignment with Malama Aina promoting sustainability, preservation, and harmony with the natural surroundings.
- Maintain and improve infrastructure, irrigation systems, and equipment.
- Uphold all safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and internal SOPs.
- Participate in strategic planning, capital improvements, and innovation initiatives.
- Foster a respectful and collaborative work environment grounded in local values and community engagement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cemetery, parks, golf course, or facilities management; prior cemetery operations experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Deep respect for Hawaiian culture, traditions, and the land.
- Knowledge of horticulture, grounds maintenance, and infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
- Ability to work weekends or holidays as needed in service of our families and community.
- Passion for excellence in service, care, and hospitality.
We Offer:
