NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.

This hybrid position is based at our office near the Galleria area, requiring in-office presence 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for hourly, salaried, and commission employees across multiple states.
• Review and update payroll-related deductions and changes.
• Enter employee information into the payroll system, including pay class, time off policies, allowances, and direct deposit details.
• Update city, state, and federal withholdings.
• Maintain payroll reports for reconciliations and assist with resolving payroll variances.
• Address payroll-related questions and issues from employees.
• Perform maintenance and resolve issues related to Bonus Plus.
• Submit liens and wage garnishments to ADP and research related issues.
• Serve as backup for monthly union dues and pension reporting.
• Stay current with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
• Ensure confidentiality of employee pay records.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with at least six months of payroll processing experience.
