Brad Kraft Memorial Scholarship

NorthStar Memorial Group is dedicated to recognizing excellence in the funeral profession. We are proud to offer a total of $30,000 in scholarship funding. Each year, we commit to awarding $5,000 scholarships to 5-6 outstanding mortuary science students, acknowledging their dedication to compassionate community service.

Brad Kraft was a pioneer and huge asset to NorthStar Memorial Group, where he advanced to the position of Vice President of Operations. Brad was the kind of manager people want to work for; organized, communicative, and always fair. This scholarship is in honor and remembrance of Mr. Kraft's passion for serving families in New Albany, Louisville, Tulsa, OK, Cleveland, OH, Houston TX, Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, and Decatur, IL. Brad was extremely proud of what he did for a living and didn’t mind telling you about it.

Scholarship Details

Scholarship Amount: $5,000.00 (paid directly to the recipient’s institution)

Scholarship Duration: December 1, 2024 – November 1, 2025

Application Deadline: November 1, 2025 (Incomplete applications will not be considered)

Scholarship to be awarded in Spring 2025 and Fall 2025

SCHOLARSHIP FAQS

What is the requirement for applying for the scholarship program?

  • Active enrollment in a college or university program accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) with a GPA of 2.6 or higher.

Can I be a scholarship recipient more than once?

  • Scholarship recipients are eligible to receive one (1) Mortuary Science scholarship award.

May I apply after the November 1, 2025 deadline?

  • Unfortunately, applications will not be accepted after the deadline. However, the annual scholarship program is open from December 1, 2024, to November 1, 2025.

When will the scholarship winners announced?

  • All applicants will be notified of their selection status individually.

What does the scholarship application include?

  • The application process includes an essay, open-ended questions, and video submission. An official transcript, resume and (2) letters of recommendation are also required.

How long should the video response be for the application?

  • Your response must be at least 2 minutes long.

If my information changes after I have submitted the applications, what do I do?

Is my award contingent upon working for NorthStar Memorial Group?

  • No, you are not required to accept an offer of employment to receive a scholarship award.
